Knitting Related Tidbits

I haven’t done much actual knitting lately, but I have done some knitting related things.  First, I saw the new issue of Knit.1 in the store today and pounced on it.  I loved it!  Unfortunately, I didn’t have the money on me to bring it home, but I plan on doing so as soon as possible.  I especially like the really cute endangered animal patterns in the very front.  Technically they are crochet, but a very easy crochet, which is something I can totally do.  I also like a lot of their Green Patterns.  I don’t remember anything specifically, but I know there were some cute jackets and such in there.

Next, I have been avoiding the blog of the Yarn Harlot like it had the plague… mostly because I know I don’t have enough time for yet another blog by a really prolific writer.  But my other prolific blogger (Robin McKinley, one of my favorite authors) sneakily linked me to it, and once I found my way to the site I was kind of doomed.  So now I’m planning on sitting down sometime soon with my socks o’ doom and catching up on the archives as much as I can (aka, until I get blog overload).

Third and final knitting related event… I finally decided to join Ravelry.  Honestly, I’m still a little scared of the site.  It looks very intimidating, full of super hardcore knitters.  But I realized that there must be other knitters like me on it too, knitters who occasionally set down the needles and do other things (ok… slightly more often than occasionally).  Besides, I keep running into resources I want and finding I can’t get to them because I need an account.  So yes, I pushed the “request an invitation” button today, and I should be hearing from them in a few days.  I’ll post my username when I get it, in case anyone’s interested.

Alright, off to read blogs and knit socks.  It’s thundering out, and for the first time in days it seems like perfect knitting weather.  It’s been too hot a lot recently.  I also might have pictures of the socks soon, depending on my ever-wavering decision about whether to try to submit the pattern anywhere (my confidence level is more or less non-existent).  I’m going up to my Uncle’s this weekend and I’m giving him his pair then, so that should be exciting.
